AZCHIC, …I believe that both guns were registered to McClinton. The illegal aspect of that issue is that he gave one of those guns to Alexander, a man who was licensed to carry a gun. ………..A lot of things are wrong with McClinton giving Alexander the gun. …………First of all, McClinton had to know it was illegal for him to do so, which means he knew he was subject to whatever legal penalty applied to admitting it. If he had gotten rid of THAT gun, there was no way of connecting it to O.J. and no way the police could prove that there were two guns involved. Secondly, McClinton clearly knew a considerable amount about handguns and Alexander didn’t. Why would a man who knows gung give a loaded gun to a man who didn’t? McClinton testified that although the gun he gave to Alexander was fully loaded, a round (bullet) was not chambered (ready to fire). …………McClinton testified that the gun he carried was also loaded but a round in his gun was chambered? The weapons were not fired. Why then did McClinton say they were loaded when he knew there was no way to prove whether they were laded or not? We have only his word that they were. ………… If McClinton were intellectually impaired the explanation for his words and actions would be simple: He’s stupid. McClinton is many things but stupid isn’t one of them. Whatever he did and SAID he did, he did it for intelligent reasons. ………….. McClinton put Alexander in the position of having to admit he carried a gun – at O.J.’s explicit request. If either of them did it on their own he would have had no bargaining power with the prosecution. ……….Everything about those facts has premeditation written all over it – premeditation of an arrest for armed robbery. It also had “deal” written all over it. As long as McClinton stuck to his story there was no way for him to go to prison, a good chance that O.J. would, and many ways for an intelligent villain on the inside to profit richly from his version of the drama. –Jasper
