Charlie,

Dynamite suff! We are definitely on the same wavelength. I think will be a good idea to include some of these ideas of yours and Kari's in the introduction. Ideally we can get somebody with a Ph.D behind his or her name to say the same things. --Jasper

Many Fuhrman's:

I think this is a good idea of Kari's. I have thought for some now that the Psychological/personal history of Fuhrman should "shine" throughout this saga.

MF is the adult child of alcoholics which has a "syndrome" and symptoms (including pathological lying) in itself.

He has multiple fails marriages. A incident of holding a gun on his brother and the brother's girlfriend when he returned from the military.

A history of making the one black family in his town's life miserable the whole time they were growing up.

A history of "festering anger".

A history of some trouble with alcohol (many adult children of alcoholics have substance abuse problems themselves).

He has a much more violent personal history than OJ has as we have mentioned before.

He is obsessive/compulsive by admission and in the psychological report from the 80"s.

In these days and times, people LIKE to think that people can Overcome their backgrounds and their upbringing. And some people can. However, it is important to realize that our backgrounds have a HUGE influence on how we conduct our lives.

Fuhrman is the "classic" person with the Adult Child of Alcoholics. I have read about this and have know one guy who suffered from this. They "make up a fantasy world" of their own. They make up reasons for failing and blame other people. The bolster their backgrounds and achievements (MF's VN descreptances)

Bill Clinton is an example of such a person. He admits that from about age 4 he lead 2 lives in order to "hide" what happened at home. It "explains"s (but doesn't excuse) the lies that he tells and his trying to make an issue of what "is" is. Clinton was never "treated" for this.

And to my knowledge, neither was Fuhrman.

My friend who was an adult child of alcoholics made up elaborate tales of being wounded in VietNam (he did go to VN but was Never wounded). He wove tales of his accomplishments and his job (etc.). He had moved away from here and not much of this was readily checkable. It was Years before I was informed that none of what he told was true.

I think the "seeking attention" part of it can't be discounted. Also, such people have a very poor self-concept that they deal with by going the opposite way with a Super Ego and inflated stories made of fantasy.

They also have problems with "appropropriate" behavior. They get their cues (that they never learned at home) but watching others and "copying" their behaviors. They have a "problem" with right and wrong and "ethics". The shades of right and wrong are more "gray" than black and white. They can also talk themselves into "excusing" behaviors and actions by blaming others as the "reason" that they did things.

They are "takers" rather than "givers". Everything is about "them" and not others. It is the epitome of the "me" generation.

These are generalities about the syndrome but think that Fuhrman is probably the "classic" example. charlie
