Pat: i don't think there is mere coincidence at work here. i think the 'murphy's ranch' story is an obvious encoded message which both gives the motive for the murders/framing and identifies the culprits.
1. both versions of the story identify the black architect as paul williams, but the real architect always used his full name, PAUL REVERE williams. the suppressed middle name is thus emphasized.
2. an internet search for 'paul revere williams' turned up a newsletter for a right wing anti-gun-control group - they held paul revere up as a hero for his place in announcing the start of the american revolution.
3. the 'real murphy's ranch' was also the site of the start of a revolution, when california declared its independence of mexico, just as the united states had declared independence of england.
4. the book BLOOD OATH alleges the bundy murders were scheduled to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the murder of talk show host, allan berg, but the 'murphy's ranch' reference shows they also commemorate the start of the BEAR FLAG REVOLT.
5. an internet search of the keyword 'bajarat' will lead you to the website of a group dedicated to california seperatism, with links to pro-hitler sites. an organization that could profit from the simpson case exists.
i think mr. garrison has correctly identified mark fuhrman as one key figure in a plot to frame simpson, but that he may be only the top of the iceberg. the 'murphy's ranch' story shows the unlikely situation of such a person finding aid from an african-american, and its occurance in weller's RAGING HEART, if attributed to ron shipp, can be seen as nothing less than a veiled confession.
if fuhrman is IAGO, shipp is the true OTHELLO here, coaxed into a plot to destroy his former hero by insane jealousy. he must have a terrible burden of guilt, and by giving weller this story, he makes a token atonement.
but if fuhrman is part of a larger organized group, and the simpson affair was an act of terrorism, that group would eventually want to take some kind of credit for the deed. the planting of the 'murphy's ranch' story in two books could be a secret way of doing just that.
