jasper:
thank you very much for your considerate reply. we have both spent years looking at this case, and have seen OTHELLO as the sub-text which goes farthest in solving the crime. our different conclusions are partly due to different information, but perhaps more due to the weight we assign the same evidence.
E! and CourtTv were not available to me until the last few weeks of the trial, so i had to reply on CNN with its many commercial breaks and slanted coverage for most of it. indeed, when kathleen sullivan showed up on my screen, it was like a breath of fresh air. i wonder how many OJI's she helped create.
i missed the information about sydney which you cite, but i am still hesitant to accept it until they become part of the true public record. sources not under oath can say whatever suits their purpose, and even when sworn, some statements need more than a grain of salt to be swallowed.
the 'dream team' made many mistakes of omission in this case, but one of the most tragic may have been not getting sydney's story on record. considering her age, i'm sure they could have arranged video taped testimony, to save her from the rigors of live cross examination. surely, if she heard the same voices and could say neither was simpson, it would have sown up the case for her father.
in my estimation, faye resnick is at the heart of the plot, and she lied as much to her old boyfriend as she did to the public. i believe she set up the 'chance' meeting that brought kato into nicole's life, that she stole the key to nicole's safety deposit box in the weeks before the murders, and planted the doctored diary and photos there. i can therefore believe ABSOLUTELY NOTHING she says without totally independent confirmation. the key to resolving the DNA problem is determining exactly when and how planting occurred. the easiest explanation is to assume it was done in the lab using the known specimen of simpson's blood drawn at parker center. but i don't believe this is true, because the 5 drops at bundy were obviously planted also, at the time of the murders and with the intent of framing simpson. this could only be done if the killer had an unknown sample of simpson's blood. but how could this be possible, especially without simpson's knowledge?
this is where ron fischman enters the picture.
the fact he is supplying simpson with an anti-anxiety medication at the same time as he discontinues his arthritis medicine hints at something simpson says in that odd JUICE PLUS infomercial: 'I don't know if it's a case of mind over matter...'
simpson is NOT saying his arthritis improves because of the JUICE PLUS, but because of mental attitude. the fact is, a combination of anti-anxiety medicine AND HYPNOTHERAPY can be used as a technique for managing chronic pain. now put ron fischman offering this treatment OFF THE BOOKS and you have a medical person not only able to obtain the needed blood, but able to plant 'thoughts of harming nicole' in simpson's own brain! but why would fischman get himself involved in such a scheme? money?
the question behind the case, for me, is one of scope. an answer limiting itself to fuhrman with a little help is much more believable than what i fear, but may not be nearly large enough. if i'm right, this really was 'the crime of the century', and you and i are as much the victims as anyone.
