Robbery/Homicide Division (RHD) detectives who arrived on Bundy after 4:00 a.m. on June 13 speculated that the killer's car was parked in the alley because they found Nicole's Jeep parked behind her garage in the driveway next to her back gate.

However…

In the hearings preceding the criminal trial many important details were left out including any information that led detectives Fuhrman, Lange and Vannatter to conclude that the killer's vehicle was parked in the alley. The only question about blood drops in the alley was addressed to Det. Lange before the grand jury. He told Marcia Clark that there were no blood drops in the alley. In the preliminary hearing Mark Fuhrman was asked a more general question about what he found when he went to the rear of the condo with Officer Riske, the first uniformed police officer on the scene. Fuhrman mentioned a blood drop in Nicole's driveway and some loose change nearby. He did not mention blood in the ally or the Jeep.

In the criminal trial, Nicole's Jeep became an issue that could not be ignored or glossed over because of the police photographs that were certain to come into evidence. These photos were taken at Mark Fuhrman's direction (Fuhrman, not Phillips, was the lead detective on the case before the RHD detectives arrived. If Nicole's Jeep was not in the driveway where Riske, Lange, Vannatter and Fuhrman said it was in the criminal trial, the basis for ruling out the garage as the place the killer parked his car goes away.

There is zero evidence that the killer parked his car in the alley and too many things wrong with Riske and Fuhrman's story about their tour of the crime scene to rule out the garage. --Jasper
