I think Ive answered the question about Fuhrman being on Rockingham in 85 (different uniforms for Westec and LAPD, O.J.s knowledge of the difference though the LAPD cops he knew, the other Westec officer being there before the police arrived, etc.). All I can say about Fuhrmans partner not coming forward to testify is that Edwards partner in the 89 incident didnt come forward, either. Neither did the partner of the cop who testified in the 93 incident. Ditto Roberts and Nolan in 94. It wasnt unusual even in the most serious cases.
The 84 case didnt get serious until 1995. Fuhrmans letter in 89 meant only that the city attorney could go through with the prosecution over Nicoles refusal to press charges. Weitzman was able to bargain the felony charge down to a misdemeanor and get O.J. off with a fine an agreement to attend counseling sessions for spouse abusers (Ron Shipps specialty) and a few months of community service.
Although I was composing my last message when you posted the one Im replying to now, I also think I answered some of your other questions about Weitzman. All of that was part of my analysis for determining that Fuhrman was on Rockingham in 84. He lied about what brought him there. He lied about what he saw and did when he got there. He invented the actions and the dialogue for O.J., Nicole and himself, but he told the truth about being there. It was like the picture of Fuhrman pointing to the glove and the cops that lied about it. The question wasnt IF he was there. The question was when.
The motive aspect of Marcias case rested on evidence of O.J. abusing Nicole. To fit the profile of the obsessed ex who commits murder in the way Nicole and Ron were murdered, she had to show a pattern of O.J.s escalating violence toward Nicole. Just as I did with Fuhrmans steppingstones, she worked backward from there. In Fuhrmans words in his Murder in Brentwood movie, This was personal. Marcias big guns were the 93 tape of Nicoles 911 call (I think you know his record) plus her pictures and the testimony of John Edwards in the 89 incident.
Fuhrmans letter was an essential part of the 89 case because it kept it from being dropped altogether. Thats why it came out in the criminal trial. Marcia had no way around it. O.J.s only spouse-abuse record was the one created by Fuhrmans letter.
I dont think it came out in the preliminary hearing because the prosecution had so much evidence and testimony to sift through. I doubt that Marcia knew about it until after the hearing when she was putting together the spouse-abuse phase of her case. Bang! There was Fuhrmans name in the heart of that case, too. Bad news. The only thing she could do with it was to show that Fuhrman handled the situation professionally and did not attempt to stretch it into an excuse to hassle O.J. She was very successful.
Weitzman most likely said nothing about Fuhrman because he didnt remember him. In 1989 he was just a name on a letter a name that meant nothing special to anybody except Mark Fuhrman. Jasper
