This is precisely what I think. This is what I argued in Iago. But it only works if you take your timeline from the Phone Company records and the combined testimony of Ellen Aaronson, Danny Mandel, Robert Heidstra, Denise Pilnak and her friend Judy Telendar. As soon as you start getting "flexible" with the timeline the way Fuhrman argues a good detective should, anything becomes possible.
There were a couple of big holes in my "Hey! Hey! Hey!" scenario that made me wonder if I had made a fatal error somewhere. It tuned out that I did make an error. I had Heidstra in the wrong place when he heard the "Hey! Hey! Hey!" But when Charlie pointed out the error the correct information plugged up both holes.
The error itself was the breakthrough that led me to see something I might never have seen if I hadn't made it. I thought that the second dog started barking because he saw the Bundy lookout entering the Bundy gate. The most likely reason that the black dog started barking was because Heidstra and his dogs were approaching the old lady's garage. The reason that Heidstra couldn't hear what the arguing men were saying was because the little black dog was yapping right in his ear and the big white one was across the street between the black dog and the men. But once I saw that SOMETHING happened just before the second dog started barking I could put the rest of the puzzle together.
Every new thing I learn about Fuhrman, Roberts and the timeline (thank you Rovan) makes the case against Fuhrman and Roberts that much stronger. --Jasper
