Kari is right on all points. O.J.'s story not only fits the overlapping testimony of Kato and Park, it fits Park's phone records, the physical layout of the estate and all of the physical evidence. You will find all of that in the animation called Kato's Walk. If you haven't checked it out before you really should. This is not mere speculation that O.J. didn't do it, it's proof that he couldn't have.
There is zero evidence that Kato and O.J. walked or talked together after they got back from McDonalds until a few minutes after eleven when Park was inside of the gate and O.J. had come outside with luggage in both hands. I can think of several good reasons for Kato not to have called O.J. about the thumps, not the least of which is how goofy he would have sounded trying to explain what he heard.
By the same token, Kato probably expected to meet O.J. on his way to investigate the thumps and could have come off looking like a hero if he had seen him instead of remaining a goat for having left the Jacuzzi running earlier that day. Kato knew that the limo driver was expected at 10:40 or 10:45, so he had to be surprised to see the limo outside of the gate and no sign of O.J. They must, in fact, have missed seeing each other by less than thirty seconds and when Kato did see O.J. the first thing he asked him was whether he had overslept. You wouldn't say that to someone unless you thought he was running late.
What almost everyone, including O.J. and Kato seem to miss is that their stories along with Park's put O.J. and Kato in the clear. Every significant thing they say they did is supported by one of the other two or by Rachel Ferrara and the phone company.
Kato was the only one who was seen going to the south path and coming away from it after the murders. If he had wanted to plant a crazy story about thumps on his wall and then plant a bloody glove where he said he heard the thumps, he could have easily avoided witness who put him behind the south path. He could have gone clockwise around the back, over the fence and down the Salinger's driveway to the wall. Instead, Park testified that Kato waved at him at from the north path near the driveway where he first saw him and hesitated before he continued toward the south path.
I say he hesitated because he truly did not want to go down the south path alone and when he didn't see O.J. he thought twice about going through with it. Everything he said and did is consistent with someone with a reputation for being goofy really hearing some goofy-sounding thumps on his wall that he hoped someone else could confirm (an earthquake) or help to investigate (a prowler).
If Kato was in his room talking to Rachel Ferrara on the phone for a half-hour or more before he said he heard the thumps, he couldn't have been at Bundy between 10:10 and 10:40. That means he could not be the killer (Juditha Brown's phone bill show that Nicole was alive at 10:28).
If Kato didn't do it, neither did O.J. but the closed gate that Mark Fuhrman says was open and his "missing" partner art Rockingham, Brad Roberts, might tell you who did. -- Jasper
