Trying to figure out O.J.'s testimony in the civil was exasperating. But after a couple of weeks of going over his testimony again and again, it finally dawned on me that it wasn't O.J.'s fault, it was Petrocelli's. Petrocelli was all over the place in asking question about time. He'd start on one time track and suddenly shift to another making it impossible to follow the entire sequence of events from beginning to end. The purpose of that style of questioning is to make the witness appear to be uncertain of is story when the real problem is figuring out the question. Darden did the same thing to Rosa Lopez and Marcia did it to Kato. It usually works.
All of O.J.'s phone records were checked and the only thing connecting AC to the killings comes to us by way of Brad Roberts before it gets to Tom Lange months later. We never heard his testimony under oath (examination, cross-examination, presentation and authentication of documents) so we can't be sure of exactly what he said.
We may be much closer on this than you think.

The action in the Rockingham animations is taken strictly from the transcripts and other statements (Fuhrman's book, Marcia's book, Vannatter and Lange's boo) and testimony of the witnesses involved (O.J., Kato, Rachel Ferrara and Allan Park). No one testified to anyone other than O.J. and Kato being involved with the thumps.
I made no attempt to insert into the animations my theory of who made the thumps or why. If I had, I would have turned back the clock in Kato's Walk to 10:45. I would have started the clock with Ron Shipp getting out of the gray car on the Salinger's side of O.J.'s Rockingham driveway. I would have shown him going up the Salinger's driveway along the fence and reaching over the fence with the padded end of a baseball bat or golf club to make the three thumps on Kato's wall.
See illustration on page 477 of Iago, Chapter 31. Recall that Rosa Lopez heard someone going toward O.J.'s garage when he and Kato left for McDonalds and when O.J. returned he couldn't find his pitching wedge in the garage where the thought he might have left it.
After Shipp makes the thumps, I then would have shown him going back to the gray car the way he came, fast forwarded the clock and began Kato's walk at a time that would put him in Allan Park's sights at 10:46.
I have a long list of interlocking reasons for not believing a word of Jill Shively's story (sorry Rovaan - but her story just doesn't work with ANYTHING that has been proved or can be proved). I do, however believe McKinnon's story, although I don't believe he really gave AC's license number to Roberts or Lange and I do have some questions about the time and place that McKinnon said that he saw the white Bronco.
I also have a question about the kinds of vehicles that Brad Roberts had access to that night. Could one of them have been a white Bronco? I'm not talking about the vehicle that Heidstra saw turning south on Bundy from Dorothy. I'm talking about the one he could have seen going south on Bundy and crossing Dorothy in front of the light-colored, Jeep-like SUV. What did that vehicle look like? Where was it coming from? Could McKinnon have seen it BEFORE the murders? --Jasper
