I know this is just silly, but when I read that part about Phillips saying he'd appreciate it and remembered that the sheer honesty of that statement threw him for a loop. He lost his place in his questioning and couldn't remember his question. He had to go back to his notebook. It was one of those moments in the trial when it was clear that something very smelly was being passed around in that courtroom. I have to wonder if Cochran's part was to get Geronimo Pratt out of Prison and declared innocent. He pulled so many punches and did give Phillips a bit of a break in his questioning.
