Fellow Smartfellows,
I've been working all day on getting the archives restored. There is some very interesting stuff from the first few months of this board's existence from Bob Siegler, Kari, Charlotte, John Junot and my stout-hearted old buddies Pat and Gary. I found it particularly fascinating to see how these early posts kept me going psychologically and helped to shape the character of the discussions we have today.
I thank you all for your participation, your patience, your encouragement, your thoughtful criticism and you saint-like patience with all of the problems I've had (and all the problems I caused) with keeping the boards up.
Because of the problems I had with my servers in 2000, in some months there were few or no posts. And in others my system management was so bad that I either can't find what I need or it's going to take a long time to restore it. The July '99 archive is a case in point. It's huge and it's going to take a long time to restore.
Whatever you do, read Bob's "Murphy's Ranch." If you've read it before but not in a long time, I think that it's well worth a revisit. --Jasper
