Movie Mystery Body found at home of 'Top Gun' producer The body of a man is found in the poolhouse of a famous Hollywood producer. There are no signs of foul play and detectives are stumped. Though this could be the plot for the latest movie from the famous Don Simpson/Jerry Bruckheimer producing team, it happened this week to Simpson. According to Los Angeles Police Detective Brad Roberts, the body of Dr. Stephen Ammerman of Pacific Palisades, Calif. was found Tuesday morning in the poolhouse of Simpson's estate. Dr. Ammerman, said Roberts, was a friend of Simpson's and had been staying at the producer's Bel-Aire home for unknown reasons. His body was found by another houseguest. "There is no criminal investigation because there is no evidence of foul play," Det. Roberts told PEOPLE Online. "He was 44 and in good health. That makes me think that drugs might have played a role, though he may have had a heart problem that went off like a time bomb." An autopsy was being conducted Thursday. Preliminary findings will be available in several days though toxicological tests won't be completed for three weeks, Roberts said. He did not know if Ammerman had a medical specialty or if he had any surviving family members. -- Marianne Goldstein
