Pat, Agree. The jurors said that she influenced them as well but didn't go into detail. Can't have the verdict overturned due to defense lawyer misconduct or bias against the lawyer.
I am not usually big on charging parents for what their kids do or owners for what their dogs do--unless in either case there is a strong pattern of neglect or misconduct or an "in your face" attitude as with these dog owners. More than 30 incidents, the vet warning them in writing that the dogs were too dangerous to be kept in the apt, etc. And the answer from the couple was an arrogant "F--you!".
And though I don't think it was allowed into the trial--the Aryian Nation connection, them "adopting" a felon in his late 30's and allegations of beastiality with those dogs, and allegations that the dogs were trained to kill was more than enough for me for at the very least negligent homocide.
