As a rule, I don't like to make corrections to my posts unless I see where I made an important factual error. But since my post to Miss Marple had much to do with typos and I made so many of them, I feel that I have to correct them so as not to be accused of making them on purpose to strengthen my case. If you see another typo here, I assure you that it's one I simply didn't see….

Speaking of typos… I made my share of them in my last post. One line I want to correct is where I wrote, "The difference is in words or the ideas but the 'typos.'" I meant to write, "The difference is NOT in the words or the ideas but the "typos."
There was one spelling error in Eyes Wide Open's post. He spelled "committed with one "t." I don't think he made that mistake on purpose, but I'm sure he left it in on purpose because it looks to me as though he ran his message through a spell-checker. I say this because of the way he spelled lowlife. He hyphenated it. That's wrong. But when you run it through a spell-checker, the spell-checker doesn't pick it up.
I was also stuck by the movie connection with Nicole Kidman, but not the way you were.
In Murder in Brentwood (Hypothesis of a Murder - page 210), Fuhrman says that Nicole was unconscious (eyes closed) and woke up just in time to see the man who murdered her. He writes, "In her final seconds of life Nicole looks into her murderer's eyes…. Simpson cuts her throat so deeply that his knife nicks her spine."
So, according to Fuhrman, Nicole had her eyes closed (she was unconscious) when Goldman was killed. She had her EYES WIDE OPEN when she was killed - so did her killer.
There may be a connection to Nicole Kidman in the movie Eyes Wide Shut. John is right about the title. But it's an obvious twist on the common expression "eyes wide open" so I don't think it matters. I don't think the contents of the move matter, either. The title with Nicole Kidman as the star is enough.
The movie connections I saw were to Billy Bathgate ('91), Jack the Ripper ('88) and Time After Time ('79).
In Billy Bathgate, Nicole Kidman's character performs oral sex on a gangster (Nicole Simpson and Keith Zlomsowitch/Faye Resnick's Brentwood salute). In Jack the Ripper, murder victim Mary Nichols has her throat slashed so deeply that the Ripper's knife nicks her vertebra. In Time After Time one of the Ripper's victims has her eyes closed as the Ripper's watch plays music. The camera does a close-up on her face. Her eyes fly wide open, presumably looking into the killer's eyes, as his knife cuts into her body.
I've got a lot more on Time After Time and Jack the Ripper in The Smoking Gun. In the last chapter that I was working on before I had to break away for the lawsuit, I have the stuff about Nicole Kidman in Billy Bathgate. The chapter isn't finished but I'll put up what I have tonight. It's part of a series of connections that go from Chevy Chase and Daryl Hanna in Memoirs of an Invisible man to Faye Dunaway in the Thomas Crown Affair.
In Memoirs of an Invisible Man, Chevy Chase is Nick. His love interest is Alice. In Eyes Wide Shut, Kidman is Alice.
When a freak accident renders Nick invisible he has trouble sleeping because he can see through is eyelids - Eyes wide open/eyes wide shut. --Jasper
