Solitairea1, …The error was probably mine. I think I wrote in a post somewhere that Philips testified in the preliminary hearing. He didn’t. I think I got that idea from the fact that he WAS on the witness list. I KNOW that Marcia said on June 30 that she was going to call Fuhrman AND Phillips. I know that she said on July 5 that she was going to call Phillips – but she didn’t. Now I’m wondering why she didn’t. He was the bridge between Fuhrman and Vannatter that tied their testimony together. ………..Phillips’ name comes up repeatedly in the preliminary hearing with Fuhrman and Vannatter. Fuhrman calls Phillips his partner. He talks about Phillips calling him and about going to Bundy and Rockingham with him. He describes everything they did together the way Vannatter describes what he did with his partner Tom Lange. He mentions Roberts only as another detective who was present when he got the word the RHD was taking over the case. He says that Roberts was away for most of the time before then interviewing witnesses. He doesn’t say anything about what he and Roberts did together at Bundy or Rockingham. Vannatter gives no hint that he even knew who Roberts. He might not have known who Roberts was apart from a handy detective on the scene when he had Officer Thompson handcuff O.J. …………. Now I’m wondering if ANYONE apart from Phillips and Fuhrman knew before the start of the preliminary hearing that Roberts was Fuhrman’s partner. I’m sure that Marcia knew afterwards and I suspect that she found out before she decided not call Phillips in the preliminary hearing. This decision allowed Fuhrman’s testimony about Phillips being this partner to go unchallenged because the defense had nothing to go on to suggest otherwise and a theory that Fuhrman and VANNATTER worked together to plant evidence. ………… In prosecution had to call Phillips in the criminal trial. He testified before Fuhrman did. (which is another reason I might have thought he testified in the preliminary hearing) and continued the lie that Fuhrman told in the preliminary hearing. He said that Fuhrman was his partner. There is no way this can be construed as anything other than a lie because of what he said about calling Roberts and Nolan. He coupled them in his testimony and he mentioned Roberts’ name as though he barely knew him. “*A* detective Roberts,” he said. When said “MY PARTNER, DETECTIVE FUHRMAN, WAS STILL SHOWING VANNATTER AND LANGE CERTAIN ITEMS…” he was on Rockingham four hours after Roberts teamed up with Fuhrman on Bundy. …………From the moment Roberts arrived on Bundy at 2:30 A.M. there is no way of stretching the word “partner” to mean that Phillips was Fuhrman’s partner. Philips is the man who SENT Roberts to Montana with Nolan to interview Schwab, Boztepe and Rasmussen. He thereby got rid of Nolan and made it underscored the idea that Nolan and Roberts were partners in the same stroke. Wherever Roberts was he was working with Fuhrman just as Vannatter on Rockingham was working with Lange on Bundy because they were partners. –Jasper
