I am letting the Bob August post that you replied to stand and the one that will surely follow. I’m doing this only because you don’t know his game on this board. All other posts from him and the replies will be moved to his playpen. ………..You don’t get enlightenment from August even when he points out actual errors. These corrections appear at first to be a benefit to Iago because we know he’s gunning for errors and if we make them he will find them. Our goal is to get EVERYTHING right, so learning about anything we get wrong really does help us. But if you stick around long enough you will learn that we eventually spot those errors and correct them ourselves through the normal course of research, HONEST discussion and presentation on High Points. His intentions are malicious. Anything that takes productive time away from me serves his covert intent. He knows I work very hard and very slowly. The more he does here the harder I have to work and the less I can do on the entire site. ……….. Part of what he tried to do in his post to you was to draw you into the trap of researching his allegations, which can take many unproductive hours of your time and mine if you bite. He doesn’t care how idiotic you will make him look WHEN you nail him on his “facts” that aren’t facts, his sources that prove to be Fuhrman, Petrocelli or portions of transcript taken out of context. Settled questions become debatable. Your issues become defenses you have to make to the motives he attributes to you for raising them. The next thing you know everyone is hip deep in Bob August muck whether they choose to respond to him or not because an entire tread of discussion becomes infused with HIS “issues.” Debates are about winning, not learning – except for the purpose of winning. He “wins” the debates he starts just by getting you to follow his lead. …………. Best of all, from his point of view, is the fact that he knows you will not accept any of this merely because I say it’s true or because others here who have given him plenty of opportunities to play it straight tell you the same thing. He can tell, as all of us can by your initial post, that you are an independent thinker. You want to know how every knowledgeable and intelligent person who has studied the O.J. case sees things. You want to gather information from all sources that might give you a better understanding of the case for and against O.J. Simpson. He does not want you to take a critical look at Mark Fuhrman. He does not want you to enter into a collaborative effort to find the missing pieces of the puzzle and put them where they belong. He wants you and everyone like you who come to the site but don’t post on Iago to go it alone. ……….. This is the final post I’m going to make to explain why Bob August has a place of his own outside of this discussion board. I hope that you will investigate the history behind his ejection (a good place to start is in the 2005 archives). The posts he makes after his response to the questions you directed to him will be transferred to his playpen. I’m keeping the others up only as a courtesy to you. Iago is not a forum of discussion for Bob August. It’s an area of war. –Jasper
