Hi Jean, I was watching O'Reily last night and he had a very valid point. They showed pictures of a whole bunch of School Buses that could have been used before the storm to evacuate these people. That request or demand could have come from the Govenor or Mayor of New Orleans. Why didn't this state take better care of their own? They issued a mandatory evacuation but didn't help any of these people leave. They could have saved so much sufferring had they simply helped to evacuate the people who didn't have transportation or the money to leave. They also did not have a plan before the storm to help afterwards. They didn't request the national guard until Wednesday. Why didn't they offer assitance of evacuation to vulnerable establishments such as the nursing homes? There is a lot of blame going around. I think there are a lot of different aspects/people to blame and it should start with New Orleans officials. Hopefully after the investigation into what took so long all states will have a better evacuation plan and better emergency plan for after the fact and the government will act more quickly!
