Prien, ……. Problems like this usually take hours or days to solve but almost everyone tries to solve them in a less than an hour. Most people give up in embarrassment, anger or frustration when they don’t get the “right” answer in a minute or two or conclude in five or ten minutes that they can’t do it, it can’t be done or it isn’t worth the effort to try. If you get nothing else out of this exercise, this is what I hope you will remember. ……The answer is a definite “undeterminable.” …… I gave Dr. B.S. Glibly that name to keep some people from thinking through the problem before I presented it. If they decide early enough that Glibly’s demonstration must be B.S. they cannot imagine an alternate solution and will resist the correct answer if they ever see it. It will probably make them angry. The rest of the wording was to get the same speedy reaction from other people – to trigger the Primacy Effect. Once that happens, Functional Fixedness is likely to kick in and there is little chance of turning back. If I had studied the business with Juditha’s phone bills and phone records the way you did to help me establish the timeline, the Primacy Effect says that there is an 80% chance that I would have reached the conclusion you reached with the phone records. ……….When the reporter walked out, there wasn’t enough information to reach a definite conclusion. Glibly did not say HOW MUCH of the acid was in the test tube or what happens when it is mixed with another liquid. You can challenge the semantics of what Glibly meant by “instantaneously eating though any solid substance” but he would tell you that he was going to explain what he meant in his demonstration. The essential point is that you were led to believe there were only two possible answers and “undeterminable” wasn’t one of them. ………Thus it is with the phone records. We are led to believe that there are only two ways of fixing the time of the murders and the right answer is in Juditha Brown’s phone records. Only there is enough information apart from the records to tell you what those records must contain. That’s the information I used to determine that Nicole was dead before 10:55. Establishing the timeline apart from legal rhetoric and maneuvering was the first thing I did. It took over a month of intense mental labor. ………I did not use Juditha’s phone records to construct my timeline. Why? Because the content of the last phone conversation she said she had with Nicole at 9:42 did not match the 2-minute or less duration on the bill. Their last conversation had to have lasted 10 minutes or more. Juditha could easily have been mistaken about he time of the call but she could not have been that far off on the duration. There is CONFLICTING evidence of a call after 11:00 but no undisputed evidence of an 11:00 phone record. ………. I found it extremely interesting that Bob August would lash out the way he did about my agreement that the phone bills we saw “looked” phony when I concluded that they weren’t and substantially agreed with HIS timeline. In that case, the 10:17 call is truly irrelevant as he falsely claims so many other things are. So why did he make such a big deal out of claiming THAT record, didn’t exist? --Jasper
