Jean, ….I learned why it is so difficult to figure out why Bill Wasz stole Paula’s 4-Runner when I gathered many accounts of the theft and put them on one page. To get the answer you have to know the sequence of events. ……Everyone went astray in 1994 when the media reported that Bill’s attorney turned over his notebook to the DA. Those reports said that Bill stole Paula’s truck to follow Nicole. Therefore everyone tried to think of scenarios that would explain why he used it to follow Nicole. Those news reports also said that Paula drove a white Bronco (which she did to replace the stolen and wrecked 4x4). Soon afterward we heard that the notebook was a fake and the truck thief did not know who it belonged to when he stole it. ……Only when Bosco and Bresnahan made their Bill Wasz stories public late in 1989 did public attention return to Bill, Paula and the notebook. But both versions of his Kardasian story were emphatic about Kardashian instructing him to steal Paula’s 4-Runner and telling him where and when he could do it. According to this story Kardasian alerted him to a set-up where he was he target by trying to give him a .25 semi-automatic handgun to frame Paula. He therefore refused the .25 Kardashian asked him to use. ……..The question then becomes, why did he subsequently steal another .25 AND the 4-Runner? If he knew Kardasian was setting him up when he offered him the .25, he would not have stolen another .25 and then stolen the 4-Runner. Furthermore, his notebook suggests that he followed Nicole on the 6th and 7th of January. He said that he did. But he also talked about Gretna Green as though he believed Nicole lived there on January 24 when he stole Paula’s truck. Nicole moved to Bundy after the 7th and that’s where she was living on the 24th when he stole the truck. O.J. and Kardashian knew that she was planning the mid January move back in December. Whoever gave Bill his instructions did not pass onto him that crucial information. Kardasian would have because it would have been essential to keeping track of Nicole before the alleged hit on the 24th. ……… Bill’s conviction that Kardasian did what him to follow Nicole went against my best theory of why he told such elaborate and demonstrably false Kardasian and O.J. stories (to let the real killer know that he would not give him up) but there it was. Someone convinced Bill that Kardasian gave the orders to follow Nicole on the 6th and 7th but it was not someone he feared. It was someone he trusted. …….. I think it was Bill’s idea to steal Paula’s 4-Runner for himself and that he buried the truth in a story he told me that began credibly but ended in one of the tallest tall tales ever told. I think he was hired to follow Nicole, O.J. Kardasian and Paula. I think he told me the truth about being so crazed on drugs that he was THINKING STRICTLY MOMENT-TO-MOMENT – a point he stressed at the beginning of his story when he said, “Let me tell you what really happened.” I think that his robbery spree started when he was following Paula and his car broke down near the parking garage. I think he looked inside the 4-Runner to see what he could steal and took it when he saw her keys in the ignition. Only later did he suspect a murder plot and see himself being set up. –Jasper
