Jean, …It’s a treat to see you posting again! ………According to all the information we have on this book rumor so far, the shorter version that you read sounds more like what I would expect. One easy way for O.J. to get around the money problem is not to take any money directly from the sale of the book. The author’s share of the profits could be designated to go entirely to the co-writer, to various charities or to some other individual or entity beyond the reach of the Goldman’s and the Browns. ………. O.J. doesn’t need money outside of his secured pension income to live a comfortable lifestyle. Even when he was raking in millions with his movies, his commercial endorsements, his football color commentaries and various business ventures, his personal tastes did not require nearly as much as his income permitted. He had a nice house in Brentwood but he could have afforded a bigger one with more lavish accoutrements. He had a Ferrari, which he mostly kept in his garage and a 1988 Bentley when he could have easily afforded a new one and he preferred driving his Bronco. He spent more money on his family and friends than he did on himself. He gave generously to charities. He enjoyed dining at nice restaurants but he obviously had no aversion to grabbing a hamburger from McDonald’s. ………. You showed a keener insight than I had on what O.J. was doing to investigate the Bundy murders. But if you are correct, as I believe you are, about the focus of the book, it unfortunately means that I am also correct about O.J. pushing his theory of the murders – with Nicole still alive after 11:00 P.M. This timeline puts O.J. completely in the clear for committing the murders himself. This is the timeline he has always leaned on and it is the ONLY one he has ever legally pursued. You can’t get to Fuhrman on this timeline as the active killer with any of the evidence that points to both Fuhrman and O.J. ………… That’s why I believe O.J. has consistently turned away from Springer, Freed and me in his pursuit of “the real killer.” He had his mind made before any of us wrote a word that Nicole was alive when all of the evidence we found that points both ways had to come into play. Furthermore, he never wanted to even hint that Fuhrman could have been responsible for the murders and the frame-up considering the automatic assumption most people make about the irrational motives of anyone who does so. ………… Fuhrman got paid, alright, for his part in the murders. He got paid by conceiving them, making sure they were done right by committing them himself and writing a formula bestseller about his role in the investigation as “one of the great detectives, ever.” If O.J. is concentrating on a theory of the murders that puts Fuhrman in an ancillary role he is doing a huge favor for the man who killed the mother of his youngest children and framed him for murder. –Jasper
