Kate I am so glad you printed the story and your comments here. I know we all discussed this on the OJS discussion group but it is good that Jasper and other's see it.
To me it indicates that Sydney and perhaps Justin heard a "voice" of a person that was making Nicole cry and/or whimper.
To me (and you) it indicates that Sydney associates the crying/phone call to whatever happened to her mother.
It shows me that early on they knew OJ had been around and could have learned his whereabouts in this early stage. There is no indication that this is ALL that Sydney and Justin said. MOre could have been said and remains unreported.
LIke who this person was and when this call was. And where Sydney and Justin were when they heard it. I agree that it would have to be close by Sydney and Justin for them to have heard it in a 2 story house. BTW, that house is just a two story house with a basement unlike reports of a 3 level house designed to imply that Sydney and Justin were 2 stories above when the murder took place.
The basement is comprised of the garage and the maid's quarters which are acessible both from the garage area and the side of the condo along that pathway where the footprints were.
Someone using a key and a garage door opener could have gained access inside by coming in the garage way, going through the maid's room and out the side door of the maid's room. Or have waited there (lying in wait) from an earlier time (say while Nic and kids were gone to the recital) until all got quiet around the house.
Was it the maid's pattern of practice to not come home from Cora's until the Monday morning? We don't know because unlike OJ"s maid who was asked these questions, NIc's maid was strangely absent for all questions at the trial.
Was it not important to get testimony from someone who actually lived at the home as well? What they saw? What they knew? Info and/or witnesses to OJ's abuse would have been important to the DA's. Was she not called because she had none to report? Where were Her keys?
WHY were the missing keys an issue but not the missing garage door opener? If ---OJ--had the keys --what was the garage door needed for? What would the garage door opener be needed by any killer---unless it was to enter through the garage? And go through the maid's room to the front w/out ever actually entering NIc's part of the condo?
The maid could have been asked the pattern of practice for bedtime with the children. Their usual bedtime. What did they do in the eve? Watch tv in the tv room? Read in bed? What?
It is still an unresolved question as to whether or not there was school the next day. School is out here in Ky. long before the 12th but what about California?
Singular and others have Implied that they were told that much more "activity" went on around that condo that night than we know about. People coming and going.
It was near the end of the criminal trial before anyone (even the press, I assume) that there had been another child at the condo for part of the evening and she suddenly goes home. It was not until the civil trial was about over before we learn that allegedly the child is picked up at 9:15 and the Dad stands in the yard speaking to NIcole until 9:15. The very time that Faye claims to have spoken to Nicole on the phone for a half hour.
This Dad (Bergman or Berman) could have said one way or another if Nicole was on the phone during that time. He was not called. He moved away from LA during this time. (another sudden moving away from the case? and the area?)
What did and did not go on that night at the condo and who was or was not a visitor that night was strangely "covered" by the DA's. 10 pm visitor Oriental woman on a mountain bike Person hiding in the bushes and watching The child Rachael. The dad picking her up and talking to NIcole in the yard in plain site for 15 minutes.
And What Sydney heard or saw as well as Justin. And whether the maid is Usually away on Sunday night or was this a special arrangement as with OJ's maid, GIGI. charlie
