Once again I have to agree with you on all counts. But in reading the article you posted on the "voice" of "mommy's best friend," I have a better picture of what Kari was talking about--and a question of whether Sydney's alleged statement about "mommy's best friend" and hearing her mother "cry" (whatever that means) were two seperate events. Could there have been one event Sydney heard involving her mother and Fay on the phone (with no obscure reference to mommy's best friend) and another involving her mother and Ron Goldman? Did she raslly say "best friend" or could she have said "friend" as a euphemism for "lover"? Did Nicole tell Sydney that Ron was coming over that night? If so, what did she call him? I'm not proposing a theory here. I'm asking a basic question that has to be answered before I can propose a reasonable theory.
I now have to consider the possibilty that Faye knew who Sydney was talking about when she associated her mother's absence with the voice of her mother's "friend." The killer did everything possible to make it appear that the killings occurred closer to 10:00 than 10:30. If the police believed that her phone call ended close to the time that Nicole was killed, it helps to support an early timeline (10:03 according to Nicole's broken Swiss Army watch). It also explains why she would have said 10:45 instead of 9:45 as a Freudian slip OR as a deliberate attempt to obscure the time of the killing and her knowleged of when it actually began and ended.
