I don't know if it was just me but in reading the couple who actually found the bodies, it appeared to me that Nicole's hair or face was moved to try to make it harder for someone to identify her.
It appeared to me they saw her face very clearly, she appeared closer, they seemed uneasy about the pictures of they were shown and asked, "is this what you saw".
