As always you raise some good points. I, too, believe that Ron Shipp was doing more than license plate running for Nicole. I do not, however, see a conflict between Nicole's strong personality and the favors she would ask of anyone who could help her get what she wanted.
Think what it means to "run a plate number." First of all, it means getting the number from a license plate. In the context of finding out who O.J. was having sex with where no private investigator is involved, it means surveillance of O.J. by a pro-a cop or a former cop. This person had to be close enough to Nicole for her to ask and close enough to O.J. for him not to suspect. Ron Shipp is the only player in the game who fits all of those particulars. That's how I came up with him as the license plate runner before he admitted it.
Nicole's interest in O.J.'s sex partners before she started going wild herself, may have been as basic as giving herself some control over a legitimate health concern. Be that as it may, my focus was on the surveillance part of the deal and the extent to which Ron Shipp my have been using Nicole to do his own surveillance of O.J. There is no reason he couldn't have killed three or four birds with one stone in an arrangement like that, spying for Fuhrman, for the LAPD and for the feds. --Jasper
