You named some of the pressures builiding in Fuhrman that I hadn't thought of. But you missed a biggie--his failure to sell his screenplay and himself to Hollywood. Remember, Fuhrman tried to sell a version of Men Against Women to Paramount and to Dove Press right after the killing. Being a celebity/writer was what he wanted to do before he retired--something he'd actively pursured since the Spring of 1985.
Still, I think you hit on something that's been driving me up the wall with The Smoking Gun. That is why scenes from so many movies show up on the crimes scenes and in his versions of what happened on Bundy and Rockingham on the 12th of June. It's way too much and way to specific to have all been planned. If he felt the kind of pressure you're talking about because of the approching forced retirment you described, it's a whole new ballgame. In theat context it only makes sense that those things would come out in a thousand different ways during an emotional experience like that, especially if he was conciously trying to include some of them and to suppress others that came out subconsciously. I hadn't thought about the building pressure (because of the Brett Cantor rehersal killing the previous July). I think it's the key I've been looking for. That said, I have to ask you the same question I asked Kate about the vital information she uncoverd. May I use your name as the source of Building Pressure in The Smoking Gun (sounds like the title of a chapter)? --Jasper
