Jasper, My Point to this and always has been is that the DA's went to EXTRAORDINARY lengths to do two things. 1) Imply that perfectly good prints went all the way back to the driveway --(but never showed photos of them) 2) and the extraordinary lengths they went to to disguise the front area, the size of the condo, which front door was opened, and more.
Even the most uneducated fool would understand that they further away you walked the less of an imprint you would have. But that isn't what they did. Just the opposite --which puts them in a worst bind in my opinion because that is suspicious in itself.
Just as it is suspicious that the ONLY identifiable ones just "happen" to be in front of the light coming from the glassed in living room to be "spotlighted" you might say.
You say Fung just chose these because they were the most identifiable? Well, somebody documented the trail because we are told specifically where they are by Bodizak and the only way he would know is thru photographs. He also tells us of the odd turn around in the prints at one point.
And if Riske was "showing" Rossi the crime scene from the call box why didn't he "show" him the shoeprints as well. He says the ONLY ones he saw at all were on the walkway 50 ft from the back. Riske claims it is these shoeprints that led him to the front door and then on inside the condo.
But the EXTRAORDINARY lengths that grab me the most and interest me the most is the "cartoon" like diagrams of the condo layout that the DA's used. I see from reviewing the videos that the defense used "real" diagrams of the condo layout while the DA's used "cartoon" versions that were so out of porportion as to be suspicious.
I believe it is to hide something that that did or did not do or something even more sinister. I wish I could figure it out.
I recall that most believed for most of the trial (and some even afterwards) that the open front door was at the top of the steps. And that was the DA's fault. EVERY diagram that they used had the shoe prints almost on the top step with the open front door beside them. EVERY one!!
Vannatter claims that he stood at the open front door and looked down on Nicole. Not possible if it was the wooden front door about 30 feet back.
Riske claims that the front porch light and the light from the open door spilled down on the scene. Light from the open wooden door would not have spilled down from the scene.
Riske claims to have seen the front door open from the call box. Not possible if it were the wooden front door but would be possible if it were the door from the glassed in living room.
All of these things and more led the viewers and perhaps the jury (until they went there) to believe that the front door was at the top of the steps. I can recall being stunned to see the cop video taken on the 17th and learned for the first time (late in the trial) how far back the wooden front door was.
Every diagram used by the DA's failed to note that the terraced area was there, that the living room was partly an add-on and stuck out from the front of the condo. Every single one.
I watched Fung introduce the blooddrops and the shoeprints (just the 2 btw) on video the other night. In the diagram he used the footprints began at the top step. A line was drawn one of the shoeprints shown indicating that is where it was found. When asked if it accurately depicted where it was found, he said it was probably a little more to the east. I am still trying to figure out how it could be a little more to the east.
Also in his diagram, the front door is next to the front step and they indicate an open door THERE.
THEN I am trying to recall what Riske said about the phone. My memory is that he said it was before the dining room. That the litho of OJ was in the dining room. I may be wrong about this.
BUT interestingly enough, the wooden front door opens INTO the dining room NOT the living room. The living room is to the left of the wooden front door and does not Have a door unless it is a door that can be opened in the glassed in front.(about the place that shows on the cops video and where the DA's were insistent in drawing an open door.)
I seem to recall Riske said he looking into the dining room. I will have to go back and check. He says he goes 15 to 20 feet to the phone. Which phone? If he went into the dining room from the wooden door, 15 or 20 feet to the left would put him in the kitchen. Straight ahead is a blank wall. To the left is the sunken living room.
He also says that when he went inside is when he noticed the place had not been ransacked. It is obvious from the cop video of the condo that he could have seen THAT plainly as he walked by the lighted up livingroom thru all the many ceiling to floor glass windows. (in the daylight video, you could see in there plainly so I imagine at night with the lights on you could see even better)
I want to know WHY this disception was done. Rossi said he could not locate the prints on the accurate schematic that BAiley had. Could he on the cartoon drawing that the DA's had?
I know of two people specifically (and they are Dick Wagner and his friend who went to Bundy and took photos---(still believing that the front door was at the top of the steps--months after the trial was over. Possible a couple of years later. I had to argue him down about it. He kept quoting testimony that showed the open front door was at the top of the steps. And he was right about that. That IS what the testimony is.
His friend who flew from Chicago to visit the scene and take photos even posted the glassed door as THE OPEN FRONT DOOR on the Internet. Last night Jean sent me the photos he posted which I had lost track of. Right there it says and labels it as the Open Front Door.
For Some REASON the DA's had all this testimony given about the open front door being at the top of the steps and then only later in the trial switched it to the wooden door about 30 feet back. (both doors exist) Which was it?
And Jasper I want to know how a Furhman wearing those shoes stepped in the blood twice and went back and restepped over those two prints. How did he know that stepping on them a second time wouldn't completely destroy them? How did he get "just enough" blood on the shoes to do that?
Did he chose the ones in front of the window so he would have light to see?
