Kari, I agree. The house was supposed to not be part of the crime scene (and really it wasn't for all practical purposes) and should have required permission from the next of kin (LOU) to search. Oddly, they did get this permission later.
It is just as strange as saying the Jeep wasn't part of the crime scene (early on) even though one door was opened and blood and change was found near it.
The more I read, the more I find that they talk about candles in the LR but don't mention any lights being on. I noticed that in Vannatter's book when I was reading the part about their arrival, standing on the porch and looking down on the scene. Oddly,too, they say they saw the 5 blood drops from that location---another impossibility.
Looking at the photo of Nic in MF's book on the walkway, I see that the downspout appears to be at the top of the steps but I learned today in the Lee video that it is at least 7 feet back as is the railing on the right which appears to be about 2 feet long in that photo.
I can see what appears to be lights in the background but they would have to be on the porch area not the living room because they are so far away.
I have located photos on Wagner's site of the steps and can find no footprints on the lower ones. Oddly, too, there are no photos of the top of the steps (the top two).
I was blown away today to see a heel print in the 3rd tile from the top of the steps (with no other part of the shoe showing) yet just a few feet away the entire shoe print is there.
I have been researching the photos on sites and on those videos and see that the blood on the bottom of the shoe is on the surface of the shoe sole and not up in the cracks as we were led to believe to explain away I guess why the prints were so inconsistent.
I also saw in the video a better shoe print than I have ever seen displayed on sites as a good example of the prints. It is before the ones we usually see. Why is that?
I looked on Bodziak's diagram and nowhere does it indicate a heel print where they showed today. All his markings are of a reg shoe print. And there doesn't appear to be one on the third tile either.
This is getting too weird. charlie
