Kato was neither weak or dumb. He was a comedian, a clown of sorts. I think everyone misread him. Whether good guy or not, he may have been the smartist one around. He was also strong enought to not drink or do drugs, when it was all around him. This is not a weak person. Like any clown his persona was to hide the real Kato underneath.
