Darn it John,

When you cut and paste something, don't you think it's a good idea to read it and look at the context?

Arnelle drove home alone and walked around the main house in the opposite direction of Rosa's room. She GUESSED that she got home AROUND 12:30. She didn't talk to anyone out front, much less carry on a 30-45 minute conversation with herself in two distinctly different male voice that Rosa didn't know. There is clearly a mix-up here in the voices Rosa heard out front at 11:00 and the voices she heard in the back about an hour later. It's not a big deal. It happens all the time throughout the transcripts. It happens all the time in the real world. Sometimes we catch it and sometimes we don't. In Rosa's testimony there is also the problem of the translator and the possibility that the attorney asked one question, the translator asked a slightly different one and Rosa thought she heard something else.

It's clear to me that Rosa thought she was being asked about the voices she heard later on. That's what she's responding to. You can tell by what she says in the rest of her testimony. If you just take a good look at what you posted you'll see that she had only the vaguest idea of when the later conversation started and how long it lasted. If she was wrong by ten or fifteen about that start time and right about the duration she would still be ten or fifteen minutes off on the end time.

Duration is a very hard thing to judge. Rosa herself admitted that she might have been off by as much as 15 minutes. If she was frightened, chances are she was off by more than that - in the opposite direction.

Haven't you ever found yourself in an unpleasant situation that seemed to drag on forever? Haven't you ever had a sleepless night where you were sure a half-hour had gone by only to see by your clock that it was more like five minutes? Haven't you ever seen a bad movie that you could swear lasted two hours or more only to find out that it actually lasted an hour and twenty minutes? I made the mistake once of letting a girlfriend talk me into taking her to a ballet. It was the LONGEST 900 hours of my entire life.

Come on John. You have a splendid mind. If only you would use it for niceness instead of evil :0) --Jasper
