Fuhrman was trying to get Rosa to say voices where when it was a ligitmate time to hear voices. Or to confuse the two times. You would be suprized at how many times, you ask a question like did you hear a scream and people say yes even when they didn't. Rosa was asleep when Arnelle screamed and she was farther away than someone in frount yard or Salanger yard. Heistra was across from Nicoles in the alley behind the house directly acorss the street from Nicoles. He spoke of the woman's black dog that lived there. Sound travels in odd ways. Think of what you do when you are trying to hear what the neighbors are saying. You move around your house to see where the sound is better.
