I'll give this to Jean: her explanation of the thumps is entirely new and original, and the very first to suggest that the perpetrator/conspirator jumped from OJ's side of the fence onto the Salinger property!
Unfortunately, it nevertheless is NOT corroborated, and is in fact contradicted, by the evidence as it was found in the area on the morning after the murders.
But first I want to deal with this "ground level" issue. I have read many times that the Salinger property was three or more feet lower than OJ's. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND A SOURCE AUHTORITY FOR THIS.
In fact, the only detailed description of that area I have been able to find is Jason Simpson's depostion. he often played in that area as a boy. He mentioned, among other things, that there was a carport on the Salinger land directly opposite Kaelin's wall where the thumps allegedly occurred. HE DOES NOT MENTION THAT THE SLAINGER'S PROPERTY WAS LOWER THAN OJ'S. While it is possible that it was lower and that he failed to mention that fact, considering the details that Jason did mention, I find this possibility very unlikely.
Anyway, Jean forgets, in spite of my constant belittling of Bob August's theory on this very point, that whether a man went over the fence from the Salinger's to OJ's or the other way HE WOULD HAVE HAD TO HAVE LEFT A VISIBLE HOLE IN THE FOLIAGE.
Also, he would have had to have scuffed up the leaf layer under the airconditioner, especially if, as Jean theorizes, he attempted two jumps before succeeding on the third.
AND Jean misses the point about the location of the glove. Just what was her OJ-to-Salinger jumper doing there, anyway? If he was planting the glove, why not just go back the way he came? if he dropped the glove as he was jumping onto the Salinger place (the exact opposite conterpart of the glove placement theory of most no-js, then whnere else was he going to go to plant that glove...under Rosa Lopez's bedroom window?
Finally, Jean's hypothesis also fails to deal with a key piece of evidence of my theory -- that kaelin said both gates on the south path were closed at 11:00. this would mean that her jumper stopped, turned around, and closed both gates in the pitch dark, a rather currious act for someone in a hurry. This is particularly tre of the broken front gate. In order for Jean's jumps to have closed THAT one, he would have had to have been standing on a narrow step while manhandling it back into position.
Sorry, Jean! But at leat take some cofort in being original.
