For one thing the standard of proof is much lower than a criminal trial. I personally think in the OJS civil trial, the standard of proof was if you believed prior to being chosen a juror that he did it.
Also, there was a movement to "get" OJS. There was a movement if he was not found "liable" in the civil trial, to try and get the US Feds to try him again in a Federal Court for civil rights violations because 2 white people were allegedly killed by a Black.
But the standard of proof is the difference here. Not always, but in this case, a rehash of the DA's "proof" without the defense being able the challenge the evidence or the witesses (Fuhrman, Roberts, the EMT and others nor show all of Dr. Lee's video testimony) passed for "proof".
