Charlie,

YES! YES! YES!

Too many of the "coincidences" that brought Fuhrman to Bundy, to Rockingham and to O.J.'s bedroom with Roberts were under his control. In fact, ALL of them were subject to something he could do to put himself and Roberts where they needed to be at any given time in the investigation. That includes the times he was with Roberts (in O.J.'s bedroom) and the times nobody can say where Roberst was (when Fuhrman climbed the wall and questioned Kato).

The biggest weakness in my idea that Fuhrman could have done the killing himself and orchestrated the framing was the sheer number of variable involved. I was daunted by the highly improbable number of things he would have to have known in advance, the number of evidence items he would have to be able to manipulate by hand, through ideally situated associates or through the power of suggestion. It didn't seem possible that any one person could do all of that. It turned out that there was one person - Mark Fuhrman.

It also turned out that the task wasn't nearly as difficult as it seems when you factor in a determined effort, an army of key contacts and a lot of patience. Where you see big problems with the evidence against O.J. and the behavior of Fuhrman was when something unpredictable happened or - as you noted before - when he was running out of time.

The scariest character in the bunch could be Brad Roberts. The very notion of a Secret Police bothers the hell out of me. I don't even like the idea of cops wearing civilian clothes or driving unmarked police cars. I will go into that on the Random Factor Board with my eye-opening experience with Division level military intelligence (G2) in the Army Reserves. Here, I would just like to add my vote to your concern about Roberts and the likelihood that his watch commander wouldn't know who he was. -- Jasper
