Pat, Steve Johnson is a dodo bird. No, actually that is insulting to a dodo bird.
My idea of a good detective is one that has some intelligence and some creativity and some imagination. This character has NONE, Nada, zip, zero.
He is a plodder. A tunnel vision expert. Eye on the end game by not looking right nor left. VAnnatter (esp.) and Lange were like that. But I do believe Johnson is worse.
I saw him on LKL with the Ramsey's and he was an idiot. A total idiot.
Detectives who tell you that they aren't into speculation or imagining other scenarios aren't good detectives. Sometimes the evidence lies. Sometimes the evidence is Meant to be a lie.
If they can't imagine the crime or speculate how it happened, they are in the wrong line of work.
If you have no creativity, you can't even think of questions to ask witnesses much less the Right questions.
I have never seen such a dead head in a job like that in my life as Steve Johnson is.
