This still does not explain that making a noise behind Kato's guesthouse is a guarantee that Kato might go behind his guest house. Somehow someone had to have known he planned to do so. His telling his story over and over is the most suspision to me. He sounds like a kid who's babysitter just caught him with his hand in the cookie jar and hoping that his telling the same story of having dropped his pet spider into the jar and he was just trying to find it, might be believed. Had he merely mentioned it, not said something about O.J. oversleeping which got attributed to O.J. and so on. When there is a need for a guarantee one doesn't rely on a noise to cause someone to check it out unless you know that Kato has someone show up to see him by using that noise. Kato seemed pretty well acquainted with how to make that gate work.
