I don't recall anywhere where it was proven that Ron drove home from the restaurant. If anything it has been said that he walked home. Didn't he live only a 5 minute walk from the restaurant? That would have gotten him home by 9:55 if he had left by 9:50pm.
As for the shirt - when someone wears a shirt that is loose at the waist, the short forms a pocket that hangs on the front of the pants. Ron had good shoulders and a small waist so there is no reason why he would not have had room to pop the items inside the "loose" part of his shirt and walked home.
I suspect he took a shower and went back out his front door, picked up the car and drove to Nicole's. The drive would only have taken him 2 or 3 minutes if he left his place at 10:15. That gave him approximately 20 minutes to shower and dress. Guys can shower and dress in that short a time frame. My guess is that he arrived at Nicole's and was inside her house by approximately 10:20. Something had to make Nicole put the dog outside and make the dog start barking.
Ron could have forgotten the glasses in the car and gone back out to the car at 10:40 to get them (maybe that is when when Faye called ). Then when he arrived back at the front gate he could have been attacked.Since the gate was broken, he could have left it open either - in case - or - because Nicole was on the phone. Didn't Faye Resnick orignally say she spoke with Nicole at 10:45? Didn't she say make some dramatic remark about being the last person to have spoken with Nicole before she died?
Ron probably liked hanging out with Nicole. Didn't she lend him moral support about his dream to own a restaurant. I recall that Kato also said he liked to talk to her when he lived over her garage on Gretna Green. Ron probably thought he would hang out with her until he got a page from Tanner. Then he would have called Tanner back and have been on his way. That may answer why he drove to Nicole's - that is - because he had made plans for later.
