I almost fell out of my chair when I read that in the testimony. I had also thought he had just called from the phone because that is how I recalled it was played at the time.
The fact that he actually radioed first was completely lost. In fact, defense never really made big issue of it as transcripts made clear. They focused on his error of using the phone, rather the ridiculous claim that he would ahve had to use the ophone after already havinbg called for back up by radio.
I posted a number nof articles about this on Simpson ng when I first discovered it and created a bit a stir.
I was just struck how no one really focused on this discrepancy at the time.
