I think you've got the sequence and purpose of the events that transpired. Fung's return to Rockingham to collect bogus items actually served only one real purpose. to provide a cover for allegedly turning over Simpson's blood vial which was actuall turned over the next morning when Lange brought in the sneakers he took home. And he took the sneakers home for the precise purpsoe of creating a cover for himself to be at the crime lab the next morning to turn the blood vial over to Fung.
This is all a carefully staged set up.
