Why would they cover up the frount door? If we could answer these why's. Now it would make sense that there would be two doors. One to greet guests and one that you take garbage and stuff out of from kitchen to dinning room and out. That dining room door was more the utility door.
A door is a door or a window is a window. You just don't confuse the two.
