Is it possible that they did not want the Jury to try to envision the somewhat physically limited O.J. Simpson in going up and down those stairs in the dark? In the beginning of the trial Johnny Cochran had a motion about the accuracy of the charts and the judge ruled something about the jury seeing the area and therefore it was no problem. I am about 85 percent sure that laymans language that was his approximate ruling. The problem is the public had no idea of what they were hearing because the second steeps stairs was left out of all charts. They did once speak of it as a short group of stairs. Like three or four. Then tried to say O.J. went around it. I wish I remembered it clearer so I might be sure but I am pretty sure that those steep stairs and the footprints after walking around it on grass is as clear as the time frame. He couldn't have done it.
