Kari, I agree with you, there was never a real reason for the detectives to scale the wall.
However, according to Commander Bushey's testimony, he ORDERED the detectives to notify OJ of the death of his exwife "as soon as humanly possible". This phone conversation between Bushey and Phillips happened at 2.30, while FUHRMAN STILL HAD THE CASE!! Instead of doing as ordered by their commander, we are to believe that they decided to go stand on the street corner and chat with all the rest of the officers, doing nothing for an hour and a half. I don't think so.
Rosa Lopez heard voices and men walking with "hard soled shoes" and Kaelin heard the phone ring "all night long" in the main house.
I think Fuhrman and someone, possibly Roberts were at Rockingham sometime after 2.30. They knew OJ was not home when they created probable cause to scale the wall after 5.30. Miss Marple
