I did not buy his book and read it because every time I went to the library it jumpted out at me. Now it is just a murder mystery. I read it and found it was a pretty good read. I figured it was a book written by the co author and Darden's name was on it to sell it. But the co author has a long list of books behind him and probably did not need Darden's name.
I did not think any more till I got to the end and the murderer was the District Attorney in LA and Darden was one of the authors. Now I knew Darden hated Garsetta, but I had just read a history of the LAPD and realized that the history in the book about the LADA really was the history of the LAPD. I decided to take a second look and started finding all these clues.
There is a fictional city in the book. With Charlie and Kari's help we found the city. The history of the real city gave the clues that it was the one they were talking about. (Unfortunately they have taken the history off the web site) This city is the bedroom of a marine base. And it is close to the place to where Fuhrman had his meeting the day before the murders. When I read it looking for a code all these clues started popping out. The big problem is seperating the clues from the plot to move the story along and false clues to cover up the real clues.
I would never have picked up that it was code, if I had not read the history of the LAPD and it was fresh in my mind.
