Jasper, Many of the gas pumps don't require that you go in and sign for anything. I believe they had those in 94 as well.
The real puzzler is why it took several years to mention this proof of purchase that he had. When he testified, it had already been a year since the night of the murders. If he didn't have it then, when did he get it?
This is just the kind of "proof" that can be supplied after the fact by government agencies.
I don't discount that someone similiar to MF could have used the card on the off chance he would be noticed. I just find it strange that a year later at the time he testified no mention of the credit card slip was made and he, in fact, testified that he was home at the time that this credit card was used.
He could have in fact leant his card to someone to use to provide an alibi for him.
What is the most strange is the 10:40 timing of the credit card? In fact, it is bizarre in nature. And should qualify for some kind of prize for the biggest "coincidence" in the world.
