I remember seeing something like this in The Conterfeit Traitor with William Holden I believe and Lili Palmer. Very good movie how this guy alienated all his friends by acting anti Jewish and Pro Nazi, his best friend was Jewish, and then he went into Germany and found where plants were, saw atrocities went through hell to get out of Germany in the end. I believe he was an American who married a Swedish and when he got back the only person who was there for him was his friend who was Jewish. It was a true story. He lost his business and everything until they found he was working for the allies.
