I hear you. Lange and Vannatter did "edit" their stories about the evidence to fit their presumption of O.J.'s guilt. That's a given. Just look at the title of their book, "Evidence Dismissed: The Inside Story of the Police Investigation of O.J. Simpson." That says it right there. They investigated O.J., not the murders, and dismissed all evidence that didn't implicate O.J. as the murderer. I'm not saying that Lange or Vannatter ever did anything else. I'm saying that in the process of trying to "get" O.J. any way they could they included some information that could have led in another direction.
Lange's statement about the blood drops coming from the murder weapon, for instance, might have been for the benefit of future discovers about the blood drops on Rockingham if he didn't know the test results on them or confusing the issue if he did. Either way, it opens up lanes of inquiry that the Grand Jury might not have considered if he hadn't said what he did.
The two crucial points about Vannatter's account of discovering the Rockingham blood trail are: 1) He clearly indicates that the blood trail he takes credit for finding leads from the front door of the house, DOWN the driveway towards the gate and OUT of the gate to the street. 2) His account flatly contradicts what Fuhrman said about the blood drops leading from the Bronco INTO the gate and UP the driveway to the front door.
Both accounts are inconsistent with the thumps on Kato's wall and the bloody glove found where the thumps were heard. There was no blood trail leading to the South path behind the garage.

Fuhrman suggests in his Bundy notes that the killer is bleeding. He has his photo taken by Rokahr pointing to the bloody glove next to the cap. He goes to Rockingham and discovers a blood drop on the handle of the Bronco. He then finds the bloody glove. Vannatter sends Fuhrman back to Bundy to see if the gloves match. Soon after Fuhrman leaves Vannatter discovers the first blood drop on the Rockingham driveway. Fuhrman gets back about twenty minutes later at 7:00 with Roberts AND THE PHOTOGRAPHER, Rolf Rokahr. Roberts discovers more blood drops. Fung arrives at 7:10. The first I blood evidence he collects in the case is the one Fuhrman discovered on the Bronco door. Vannatter tells him to collect all of the blood drops and to secure the Bronco. He then turns the scene over to Fuhrman while he leaves to write a search warrant.
Roberts begins "marking" the blood trail. Fung takes them up and replaces them with his own. Someone (remember who is in charge at this point) directs the photographer to take the worst possible pictures of the blood drops at angels that only an expert can decipher. Vannatter returns and we get ONE good picture of the blood drops that Fung marked by the Rockingham gate.
It would have taken the Grand Jury awhile to unscramble all of that, but the way they were going, I think that they might have gotten it, and the man who links it all together, Mark Fuhrman. --Jasper
