I agree with Miss Marple. The cut hand in Chicago was a spontaneous knee jerk reaction O.J. had upon hearing Nicole was dead. The teeny cut on his hand that bled so much at Rockingham was an accident while he fished for his cell phone from the Bronco. I have no doubt that O.J. absolutely always felt that Nicole would grow up and come home, and they would live happy ever after. Barbareri was a diversion for him. He had no intentions on marrying her.
I also have no doubt O.J. was in deep shock as he tried to sort things out in his mind on the way back from Chicago. Sleep deprivation, shock, anger, inquisition....he was not even used to worrying about his kids. Someone else always took care of them, and although he provided money and the best care, he never actually had full responsibility for them. Those kids were the furtherest thing from his mind as his oldest daughter and his good buddy was taking them to Grandma's.
BUT! I don't think he realized how devastated his older two children were. I don't think anyone knows the stress they suffer today because of his weird reactions. I certainly hope they understand this man doesn't run on all four paddles, he is arrogant, he can be an ass, but he is NOT a killer. Being a football hero was a job. Not to be confused with actually living with a person with his handicap.
