I was watching CSI last night. I believe that show takes place in Las Vegas.
They had two cases they were working on. One was an apparent senseless attack and rape of a woman. She lived but would always be in a vegetative state.
The big "clue' in the case was a hat thrown down. Yes, thrown down not dropped.
They stated that in "gang" cases it was a signal that it was an attack/murder done as an "intitiation".
The "tag" of the murder is throwing down a gang hat. In this case, it was a baseball cap with the logo of the gang on the front.
This "idiot" happened to throw down his "own" hat and DNA was taken on the hat. He didn't throw down a "new" hat.
This brought a couple of questions to mind.
1) Could DNA be taken off the knit hat?
2) Could this be something that a knowledgable cop would know and to throw down the "killer's" hat be some kind of symbolism or in their mind a way to frame somebody?
I happened to think that in the case on CSI that without a belt loop from a pair of jeans, it would have been easy to "frame' somebody for a murder JUST by using the person's hat.
