It appears I was wrong, at least to the extent of "together". They may have eventually gone there together, but I have no ref. of it. So I was wrong on that much. But they both DID go to the "DRAGONFLY", and knew CANTOR. Now, here's what I do have on Cantor, Nicole, Dragonfly etc. << July 30, 1993 ~ "Nicole, Ron and Faye were steady dancing customers at BRETT CANTOR'S Hollywood nightclub, The DRAGONFLY. (Ron had worked for Cantor previously). On July 30, 1993, less than a year before Ron and Nicole's murders, BRETT CANTOR WAS SLASHED TO DEATH in a knife attack nearly identical to the attack of June 12th. Cantor too, had been cut from behind. The killer, ripping from the lower left side of the neck, sliced up and to the right. Like Goldman, this friend was stabbed repeatedly on the arms and chest. As with Goldman and Nicole, the knife used had a long, thin blade, as experts determined from the wounds." [KT-149] ~~~~"Brett Cantor, the owner of a Hollywood nightclub called the Dragonfly. Nicole and Ron Goldman were regulars at the club. Cantor was murdered on July 30, 1993 in a vicious knife attack nearly identical to the one that dispatched Ron Goldman. The club owner, too, had been cut from behind. The killer started on the lower left side of the neck, drew upward and away to the right. Both Goldman and Cantor were stabbed repeatedly on the arms and chest. In both cases, the knife had a long but thin blade. At one point, Shapiro planned to argue that the same killer was responsible for the bloody melee on Bundy, but the LAPD insisted (with psychic certainty) that there was no connection between the two cases (La Fontaine) [Alex Constantine] ~~~~"In his mid-20's, Cantor was a budding promoter and producer of underground music, which is to say any music that is an alternative to the current trend in rock. A busy and ambitious young man, he was an executive with Chrysalis Records, acquiring and producing up-and-coming new bands. He also worked as a promoter of nightclubs, organizing special nights by using what is called an "A list" of hip people and celebrities whom he could induce to show up as VIP guests, istantly establishing the newest "in" spot in town. Cantor was also part owner of the Dragonfly (10%), one of the hottest "in" spots int he summer of 93, and was there frequently. Brett's father is PAUL CANTOR, a prominent entertainment manager. His clients have included DIONNE WARWICK and BJ Thomas. However, according to friends and family members, Brett struggled to break into the business, doing it without the contacts or help of his father. Brett Cantor was murdered July 30, 1993, on the Westside. His throat was slashed, his head all but decapitted, and he also suffered multiple stab wounds throughout his torso. Although the LAPD case officers in charge, Det. Rick Jackson and Rich Aldahl of the elite Robber/Homicide Div both say they vigorously investigated the case, there has never been a prime suspect, and the case remains open. No murder weapon has been found....{Ito turned over the Cantor "murder book" to the Simpson defense since the crimes were so similar}." "Separately, Ron and Nicole frequented the Dragonfly in the spring and early summer of '93 (there is no indication that Ron and Nicole were aware of each other at this time, a year before their murders). Employees of the club remember seeing Ron and Brett Cantor together. And they remember Nicole coming to the Dragonfly with her coterie of party-time girlfriends. It has been said that RG realized he'd be a long time coming up with the money to open the restaurant he now dreamed of on a waiter's income---it appears Ron was considering the nightclub -promotion business himself. There are also some intriguing elements to the story AFTER Cantor's murder. TOM STURGISS, the head of Chrysalis Records and Chrysalis Music, for whom Brett had worked only 6 months, from Nov 92 to the time of his death, put up a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the murderer(s). The phone number given out with the reward was a private number, not the police. Det. Jackson and Aldahl say that in all the time since the murder, Sturgiss gave them only one called-in tip to investigate, which turned out to be nothing; there were not even the flakes who usually come out of the ground whenever a reward is on the line. There are some who have wondered why an employer would be so emotionally impacted by the death of a new employee. Sturgiss must also have been fond of Brett's brother CLIFF CANTOR. Only days after the murder, Sturgiss hired Cliff to replace Brett at Chrysalis Records. Then Cliff, starting with Brett's 10% of Dragonfly, soon managed to buy full ownership of the club. Tom Sturgiss is very defensive about any connection between Brett's murder and the Simpson murders. When I talked repeatedly about Brett's murder, he would get his back up first, loudly; then he would shut up. When he spoke about Brett alive, however, he spoke of him almost reverently. Besides Cliff, Brett had another brother named MARK. When contacted, both brothers immediately became defensive and adamant in their insistence that there was no connection between Brett's murder and the Simpson and Goldman murders. One would think that with so much time gone by and still not even a suspect in the murder of their brother, they would welcome any media spotlight on the crime. But not these brothers. To me they claimed there was a prime suspect but that "he was out of the country" and the LAPD "couldn't get him extradited." Aldahl and Jackson have flatly denied this. They say there is no suspect in or out of the U.S. and there never has been. The Cantor brothers have ordered their spouses not to talk about the case with reporters. TYGER CANTOR, Mark's wife, however, weakened somewhat on the phone one day and admitted that she believes "there is a connection," but that it's taboo to even discuss it with her husband and brother-in-law" [B:PoE92-94] ~~~~Paula: "That summer, while I was still in Panama City, I hired two local investigators to see what they could come up with. They flew out to LA and nosed around. "some strange things" were going on out there, they reported. They found alot of drug use at one of the nightclubs that RG had been promoting, as a sideline tohis waiter's job. Then came the punch line: The guy who took over the promotion job from Ron had been found murdered in his front yard. With his throat cut. We wouldn't be able to bring that chilling story into evidence though." "Yeah, and they always say, 'If OJ didn't kill Nicole, who did?' Well if OJ didn't kill Cantor, who did? "Yeah, there are a lot of strange deaths around this case, that, as an investigator, I think should at least be looked at for coincidences or similarities or something like that.
