The fact that the cop--Jones--immediately turned around and went back the way he came from, indicates to me that he may well have been in the neighorhood to check out the old lady's complaint of the barking dog and something being wrong.

When he saw the dog in hand and being taken care of--he turned around and drove away. No more barking dog. No more problem.

ADD to that fact, that Scwhab FAILS to tell the cop that there is blood on the dog---something the cop may have felt dutybound to check up on--is another indication that the stop resulted in the cops NOT investigating the scene before anybody was READY for them to.

Had he told him about the blood, the cop may have said show me where you found him or something like that.

Yep. He only gave himself a legit reason for being on the scene (perhaps the cop had already seen him) and he deflected the cop away from Nicole's house.

In that CSI the other night about the hitman killings--the killer is seen by a passerby and ends up having to apply CPR to the man he had just killed and call the cops himself (or rather get the witness to his being there to call the cops)

I know of real cases where the killer pretends to be the body finder or the ones to call the cops.
