Your conclusions makes sense once you drop the 10:15 barking. The "plaintive wail" does not fit with Nicole's phone call with her mother.
The blind date couple must've also passed Nicole's before 10:30pm.
No further problems on the time issue, since the SUV was probably long gone by the time Karpf wetn to check his mail.
